매장에서 오가는 말은 몇 마디로 정해져 있습니다. 아래 여섯 문장은 좌우가 한 쌍의 대화가 아니라 각각 따로 익히는 문장입니다. 먼저 눈에 담고 본문으로 들어가십시오.
Only a few lines go back and forth in the store. The two columns are not paired dialogue; each sentence is learned on its own. Take them in first, then move into the main text.

1. 들어서면 바로 듣는 말
What You Hear the Moment You Walk In
매장에 들어서면 직원이 먼저 인사를 건넵니다. 이 두 마디를 알아듣는 것이 첫 관문입니다. 여기서 쓰는 표현부터 배워봅시다.
Staff greet you first when you enter, and catching these two lines is the first hurdle. Start with the expressions you will use here.

바꿔 쓰는 틀 [명사] 받고 싶어요 / 그냥 좀 [동사]ㄹ게요

The patterns: [noun] 받고 싶어요 and 그냥 좀 [verb]ㄹ게요. For example: 피부 상담 받고 싶어요, 추천 받고 싶어요, 그냥 좀 둘러볼게요.
▶ 바로 답이 안 나오면 그냥 좀 둘러볼게요 한 문장으로 시간을 벌 수 있습니다.
▶ If no answer comes, 그냥 좀 둘러볼게요 buys you time.
볼게요는 하겠다는 뜻의 부드러운 표현입니다. 거절이 아니라 지금은 혼자 보겠다는 뜻이므로 직원도 물러나 기다립니다.
볼게요 is a softer way of saying you will do something. It is not a refusal but a signal that you want to browse, and staff will step back.
반대로 도움이 필요하면 피부 상담 받고 싶어요라고 먼저 말하면 됩니다. 받고 싶어요 앞의 명사만 바꾸면 추천 받고 싶어요, 설명 받고 싶어요로 이어집니다.
If you do want help, say 피부 상담 받고 싶어요 first. Swap the noun in front and you get 추천 받고 싶어요 or 설명 받고 싶어요.
2. 피부 타입 네 가지
The Four Skin Types
한국 화장품 매장은 피부를 이 네 가지로 나눠 이야기합니다. 자기 타입 한 단어만 알면 상담이 시작됩니다.
Korean cosmetics stores talk about skin in these four categories. One word for your type starts the consultation.

바꿔 쓰는 틀 [동사]는 편이에요
예시 당기는 편이에요 · 붉어지는 편이에요 · 기름진 편이에요
The pattern: [verb]는 편이에요. For example: 당기는 편이에요, 붉어지는 편이에요, 기름진 편이에요.
▶ 타입을 모르겠으면 잘 모르겠어요라고 말하면 됩니다.
▶ If you are unsure, just say 잘 모르겠어요.
직원이 당기는지 기름이 도는지 물어보며 좁혀 줍니다. 모른다고 말하는 것이 틀린 타입을 말하는 것보다 낫습니다.
The staff will ask whether your skin feels tight or oily and narrow it down. Saying you do not know beats naming the wrong type.
네 단어는 모두 성으로 끝납니다. 성은 성질을 뜻하므로 건성은 마른 성질, 지성은 기름진 성질입니다. 이 규칙을 알면 처음 보는 말도 뜻이 짐작됩니다.
All four end in 성, which means quality or nature. 건성 is dry-natured and 지성 oily-natured. Knowing this lets you guess new words.
3. 상담과 성분, 샘플 요청

여기서 쓰는 문장은 다섯 개면 충분합니다. 표를 먼저 보십시오.
Five sentences cover this part. Start with the table.

바꿔 쓰는 틀 [명사]에 좋은 제품 있을까요

The pattern: do you have something good for [noun]? For example: 보습에 좋은 제품 있을까요, 미백에 좋은 제품 있을까요.
▶ 있을까요와 있어요는 같은 질문이지만 있을까요가 더 부드럽습니다.
▶ 있을까요 and 있어요 ask the same thing, but 있을까요 is softer.
처음 보는 사람에게는 있을까요 쪽이 자연스럽습니다. 제 피부가 좀 건조한 편이에요에서 건조한 자리에 지성이에요, 민감한을 넣으면 그대로 다른 상황에 쓰입니다.
With someone you have just met, 있을까요 fits better. In 제 피부가 좀 건조한 편이에요, swap 건조한 for 지성이에요 or 민감한 and the sentence still works.
4. 멤버십과 텍스프리
Membership and Tax Free
결제 직전에 두 가지가 나옵니다. 멤버십 적립과 부가세 환급입니다.
Two things come up right before payment: membership points and the tax refund.

The pattern: is [noun] available? For example: 텍스프리 되나요?, 카드 되나요?, 포장 되나요?
▶ 텍스프리는 결제 전에 물어야 합니다.
▶ Ask about tax free before you pay.
한국에 6개월 미만 머무는 외국인은 사후면세점에서 산 물건의 부가세를 돌려받을 수 있습니다. 한 번에 1만 5천 원 이상 사야 하고 구매일로부터 3개월 안에 출국해야 합니다. 매장 입구의 Tax Free 표시를 먼저 확인하십시오.
Foreign visitors staying in Korea under six months can reclaim VAT on goods bought at a tax refund store. A single purchase must be at least 15,000 won, and you must leave the country within three months of buying. Look for the Tax Free sign at the entrance first.
환급은 두 갈래입니다. 매장에서 세금을 빼고 결제하는 즉시환급과, 서류를 받아 공항에서 처리하는 방식입니다. 그래서 텍스프리 되나요 다음에 여기서 바로 빼주시나요를 이어 물으십시오. 즉시환급에는 결제할 때 여권이 있어야 하며 결제가 끝난 뒤에는 소급되지 않습니다.
There are two routes: an immediate refund deducted at the register, and paperwork you process at the airport. So follow 텍스프리 되나요 with 여기서 바로 빼주시나요. The immediate refund needs your passport at checkout and cannot be applied after payment.
5. 결제하고 마무리
Paying and Wrapping Up
마지막 다섯 문장입니다. 결제 수단을 밝히고 받을 것을 챙기면 끝입니다.
The last five lines. State how you will pay, collect what you need, and you are done.

바꿔 쓰는 틀 [명사] 주세요
예시 영수증 주세요 · 봉투 주세요 · 서류 주세요
The pattern: [noun] 주세요. For example: 영수증 주세요, 봉투 주세요, 서류 주세요.
▶ 주세요는 무엇을 달라고 할 때 쓰는 틀입니다.
▶ 주세요 is the frame for asking to receive something.
앞의 명사만 바꾸면 어느 가게에서나 쓰입니다. 봉투는 대개 유료이므로 필요할 때만 청하시면 됩니다.
Change the noun in front and it works in any shop. Bags usually cost extra, so ask only when you need one.
천천히 말씀해 주시겠어요는 이 글에서 가장 오래 쓸 문장입니다. 매장뿐 아니라 병원과 은행, 관공서 어디서나 그대로 통합니다.
천천히 말씀해 주시겠어요 is the line from this post you will use longest. It works in clinics, banks, and government offices just as it does in a store.
매장에서 오가는 말은 결국 다섯 장면으로 나뉩니다. 인사와 타입, 상담, 환급, 결제입니다. 장면마다 한 문장씩만 붙잡아도 상담이 끝까지 굴러갑니다. 오늘 나온 문장 가운데 딱 세 개만 외우자면 피부 상담 받고 싶어요, 제 피부가 좀 건조한 편이에요, 텍스프리 되나요입니다.
What gets said in the store falls into five scenes: the greeting, the type, the consultation, the refund, and the payment. Hold on to one sentence per scene and the whole consultation keeps moving. If you memorize only three of today's lines, make them 피부 상담 받고 싶어요, 제 피부가 좀 건조한 편이에요, and 텍스프리 되나요.
