Key Expressions in This Lesson

팝업 입구와 계산대에서 오가는 말은 몇 마디로 정해져 있습니다. 아래 여섯 문장은 좌우가 한 쌍의 대화가 아니라 각각 따로 익히는 문장입니다. 먼저 눈에 담고 본문으로 들어가십시오.
Only a few lines go back and forth at the pop-up entrance and the register. The two columns are not paired dialogue; each sentence is learned on its own. Take them in first, then move into the main text.

1. 팝업과 굿즈샵에서 쓰는 한국어
The Korean for Pop-ups and Merch Shops

 

용산과 홍대에서 하는 일은 둘입니다. 예약한 팝업에 들어가고, 매장에서 물건을 삽니다. 손님이 하는 말은 네댓 마디면 충분하고, 직원이 하는 말은 알아듣기만 해도 계산대 앞에서 멈추지 않습니다.
You do two things in Yongsan and Hongdae: enter a booked pop-up and buy things in shops. Four or five lines cover what you say, and simply understanding what the staff says keeps you moving at the counter.

여기서 쓰는 표현부터 배워봅시다. 입구와 계산대에서 오가는 말입니다.
Start with the expressions you will use here. These go back and forth at the entrance and the register.

▶있어요는 있는지 묻는 틀이고 돼요는 가능한지 묻는 틀입니다.

 있어요 asks whether something exists; 돼요 asks whether something is allowed.

앞의 단어만 바꾸면 재고 있어요, 영어 설명 있어요, 큰 사이즈 있어요가 되고, 카드 돼요, 사진 돼요, 교환 돼요가 됩니다. 답은 있어요와 없어요, 돼요와 안 돼요 넷이면 끝납니다.
Swap the word in front and you get 재고 있어요, 영어 설명 있어요, 큰 사이즈 있어요, or 카드 돼요, 사진 돼요, 교환 돼요. The answers come down to four: 있어요, 없어요, 돼요, 안 돼요.

랜덤이에요는 사전 뜻으로 읽으면 어긋나는 말입니다. 사전에는 무작위라고 나오지만 매장에서는 뜻이 하나입니다. 고를 수 없으니 열어 봐야 안다는 말이며, 원하는 멤버를 짚어 달라고 해도 소용이 없습니다.
The dictionary meaning does not cover 랜덤이에요. It says random, but in a shop it means one thing: you cannot choose, and you only find out when you open it. Asking for a specific member will not help.

 

 

2. 용산 하이브 사옥과 1층 팝업스토어
The HYBE Building and Its First-Floor Pop-up

 

서울 용산구에는 하이브 사옥이 있습니다. 먼저 분명히 해 둘 것이 있습니다. 이곳은 관광지가 아니라 회사 건물이고, 방문객이 들어갈 수 있는 곳은 1층 로비를 개조해 만든 팝업 공간뿐입니다. 나머지 층은 직원들이 매일 일하는 업무 공간입니다.
The HYBE building stands in Yongsan-gu, Seoul. One thing should be clear first: this is a company building, not a tourist site, and the only space visitors can enter is the pop-up made from part of the first-floor lobby. The other floors are offices where people work every day.

▶가장 중요한 것은 예약입니다. 예약 없이 현장에 가면 들어갈 수 없습니다.

 The booking matters most. You cannot enter by simply showing up.

예약은 위버스 앱에서 합니다. 팝업은 고정된 전시가 아니라 앨범 발매 일정에 맞춰 콘셉트가 통째로 바뀌므로 같은 자리라도 방문 시기에 따라 전혀 다른 공간을 만나게 됩니다. 다음 팝업 일정과 예약 오픈 시점은 공식 채널에 안내되므로 방문 일정이 정해졌다면 미리 확인하십시오.
Book through the Weverse app. The pop-up is not a fixed exhibition: the concept changes entirely with each album release, so the same spot feels different depending on when you visit. Upcoming pop-ups and booking dates are announced on the official channels, so check once your dates are set.

건물 앞은 평일에도 사람이 끊이지 않지만 직원들이 매일 출퇴근하는 업무 공간입니다. 출입구를 막고 서거나 드나드는 사람을 촬영하는 행동은 삼가야 합니다. 건물 외관 촬영은 문제가 없지만 사람에게 카메라를 향하는 것은 다릅니다.
People gather out front even on weekdays, but employees commute here daily. Do not block the entrance or photograph people going in and out. Shooting the exterior is fine; pointing a camera at people is not.

 

 

3. 홍대, 굿즈와 앨범을 사는 곳
Hongdae, Where You Buy Merchandise and Albums

 

용산에서 지하철로 이동하면 홍대에 닿습니다. 2호선 홍대입구역이 기준점입니다. 굿즈샵과 앨범 판매점이 밀집해 있고 팝업과 달리 예약 없이 영업시간 안에 자유롭게 들어갈 수 있습니다.
A subway ride from Yongsan brings you to Hongdae, with Hongik University Station on Line 2 as the reference point. Merch and album shops cluster here, and unlike the pop-up you can walk in during business hours.

▶실물 앨범은 버전이 여러 개인 경우가 많아 무엇을 살지 먼저 정해야 합니다.

 Physical albums often come in several versions, so decide before you buy.

표지와 포토카드 구성이 다르고 어떤 카드가 들어 있는지는 열어 봐야 압니다. 매장에서 다른 버전도 있어요라고 물어 확인한 뒤 고르시면 됩니다. 무게도 고려하십시오. 실물 앨범은 생각보다 무겁고 부피가 커서 여러 장을 사실 계획이라면 여행 마지막 날에 사거나 국제 배송을 이용하는 편이 낫습니다.
Covers and photo card sets differ, and which card you get is revealed only on opening. Ask 다른 버전도 있어요 in the shop before choosing. Consider the weight too: albums are heavier and bulkier than expected, so buy them on your last day or ship them internationally.

카페 문화도 홍대의 특징입니다. 아티스트의 생일이나 데뷔 기념일에 맞춰 팬들이 카페를 빌려 이벤트를 열고, 한정 메뉴를 주문하면 사진이 인쇄된 컵홀더나 엽서를 받을 수 있습니다. 일정은 팬 커뮤니티와 SNS에서 공지됩니다.
Cafe culture is another feature. Fans rent cafes for artists’ birthdays and debut anniversaries, and ordering the limited menu can get you a printed cup holder or postcard. Schedules are posted on fan communities and social media.

두 곳은 성격이 다릅니다. 용산은 예약한 시간에 들어가는 자리이고 홍대는 발길 닿는 대로 도는 자리입니다. 순서를 표로 먼저 견주어 보십시오.
The two places work differently. Yongsan is somewhere you enter at a booked time; Hongdae is somewhere you wander. Compare the order in the table first.

▶예약 시간이 정해져 있으므로 용산을 기준으로 하루를 짜는 것이 안전합니다.

관람을 마친 뒤 사옥 앞과 주변 카페를 둘러보고 지하철로 홍대로 이동하십시오. 홍대는 저녁까지 상점이 열려 있어 늦은 시간에 배치하기 좋습니다.
Afterward, look around the building and nearby cafes, then take the subway to Hongdae, where shops stay open into the evening.

현장에서의 태도도 짚어 두겠습니다. 팬덤 공간은 회사 건물이고 상업 시설이고 지역 주민이 생활하는 공간입니다. 통행을 배려해 서고, 상품을 조심스럽게 다루며, 예약한 시간에는 반드시 방문하십시오. 자리를 비우면 다른 팬이 들어갈 기회가 사라지기 때문입니다. 팝업 일정과 예약 방식, 매장 운영시간은 수시로 바뀌니 방문 전 공식 채널에서 최신 정보를 확인하십시오.
A word on conduct: these are company buildings, commercial premises, and neighborhoods where people live. Stand clear of the way, handle merchandise carefully, and show up for the slot you booked, since an empty slot means another fan lost their chance. Pop-up schedules, booking systems, and shop hours change often, so check the official channels before you go.

 

용산은 예약한 시간에 들어가는 자리이고 홍대는 발길 닿는 대로 도는 자리입니다. 두 곳에서 익힌 문장은 서울의 어느 매장 계산대에서도 그대로 쓰입니다.
Yongsan is somewhere you enter at a booked time; Hongdae is somewhere you wander. The lines you picked up at both work the same at any register in Seoul.
